Ski Instructor

WHO ARE WE?

Newmilns Snow and Sports Complex is a dynamic and evolving organisation dedicated to changing people’s lives. We help people develop confidence, motivation and employment skills through snow sports. We work with children and adults, schools and youth groups. The most direct benefit of our work is delivered to disadvantaged or hard to reach groups. To achieve this we offer recreational skiing and snowboarding as well as children’s parties.

We need your help to deliver snow sports and develop opportunities for individuals by providing a great learning experience to our guests.

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

Our Instructors teach guests to ski according to SSS/BASI standards in a safe and fun environment. Instructors are dressed in uniform and are role models for our guests, as such, they are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. Instructors should be available to work weekends and holidays, these being our busiest periods.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

We ask that you are enthusiastic, responsible and comfortable with communicating face to face or on the phone with a wide range of people. You should;

  • Be reliable and proactive.
  • Hold at least SSS or BASI Level 1 or equivalent.
  • Hold a valid first aid certificate.
  • Enjoy being outdoors and have an interest in sport, health and wellbeing.
  • Be committed to equality and with NSASC’s vision and mission.
  • Be available to work weekends and holidays.

PAY, BENEFITS AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We are passionate about supporting and developing our people, if you have the drive and determination to be the best, we can offer the following;

  • 1-year contract with possible extension.
  • 1 Fulltime vacancy of 35 hours per week and also part time opportunities.
  • Hourly rate between £8.45 - £9.50 per hour depending on experience.
  • Support towards further snow sports qualifications.
  • Free slope time.
  • The chance to shadow different people to gain a broad understanding of different disciplines.
  • The opportunity to increase your awareness of the snow sports and social enterprise industry in Scotland.

Party Host

Our staff are role models to others whilst looking after our guests whether teaching ski and board or hosting our parties always in a safe and fun environment.

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

Our Party Hosts meet and greet our guests on arrival and look after them during their visit. They confirm activities booked, their duration, location and safety requirements. Safety briefings are delivered for tubing sessions and guests supervised at all times. Slope space and ringos are set up appropriately and any problems are recognised, dealt with confidently and escalated where necessary to ensure parties are fun and safe.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

You don’t require snow sports experience, we ask that you are enthusiastic, friendly and comfortable with communicating face to face with a wide range of people. This would include the adults booking the parties and parents attending with young children as well as the young party guests. You should;

  • Be able to make parties fun whilst retaining responsibility for safety and ensuring sessions run to time.
  • Be reliable and proactive.
  • Enjoy being outdoors and have an interest in sport, health and wellbeing.
  • Be committed to equality and NSASC’s vision and mission.
  • Be available to work weekends and holidays.

Customer Service Assistant

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

You will be the first point of contact for customers both via the phone and face to face and will manage all customer enquiries. Following training you will fully understand our products and services to ensure that bookings are taken efficiently and both customer and business needs are met. You must have good attention to detail and be confident with general administration.

You will meet and greet our guests on arrival confirm activities booked, their duration, location, safety requirements and take full payment for their activities. You will introduce them to their instructor or party host and issue any equipment if required. This role will suit motivated individuals who are willing to get stuck in and support a small team to deliver an excellent service.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

You don’t require snow sports experience. We ask that you are enthusiastic, friendly and enjoy communicating with a wide range of people both over the telephone and face to face. You should;

  • Be IT literate and confident with using Google calendars for scheduling activities.
  • Be good on the phone and able to understand customer requirements and match them to the correct activity.
  • Be reliable and proactive with tasks.
  • Enjoy being outdoors and have an interest in sport, health and wellbeing.
  • Be committed to equality and NSASC’s vision and mission.
  • Be available to work weekends and holidays.

Trainee Ski/Snowboard Instructor/Rental Assistant

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for 5 young people between the ages of 16-24 that live in Ayrshire to take part in this years Instructor & Volunteer Pathway. This Pathway offers participants a fun environment with the opportunity to increase confidence, meet new people, gain qualifications, a reference, gain valuable work experience and get some exercise at the same time.

SKILLS REQUIRED

NSASC is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. No formal qualifications are required for this post however, we ask that you are comfortable with communicating face to face or on the phone with a wide range of people. Ideally you should also demonstrate:

  • an ability to ski/snowboard at recreational level
  • reliability
  • good written and spoken English skills
  • an ability to work as part of a team
  • an ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently

  • You will also have the chance to shadow different people within the organisation, thus getting a broad understanding of different disciplines.
  • Lastly, you will have the opportunity to increase your awareness of the snow sports and social enterprise industry in Scotland.
