Snow Sports Instructors, Reception and Customer Service, Ski/Board Rental Staff

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION

Our facility is growing and with a busy season ahead we need more help and have, Full and Part-Time, Casual and Voluntary Opportunities, for Snow Sports Instructors, Reception and Customer Service, Ski/Board Rental plus voluntary support opportunities in areas where you feel you can contribute.

WHO ARE WE?

Newmilns Snow and Sports Complex is a dynamic and evolving organisation dedicated to changing people’s lives. We help people develop confidence, motivation, and employment skills through snow sports. We work with children and adults, schools and youth groups. The most direct benefit of our work is delivered for disadvantaged or hard to reach groups. To achieve this, we offer recreational skiing and snowboarding as well as children’s parties. Our Instructors are role models to others whilst teaching guests to ski and board according to the standards of the SSS or BASI in a safe and fun environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Instructors must be at least a BASI Level 1 or equivalent and hold a valid first aid certificate.
Reception and rental roles don’t require snow sports experience, however, we ask that you are personable – comfortable with communicating face to face or on the phone with a wide range of people.

For all roles:

  • You must be reliable and proactive.
  • Enjoy being outdoors and have an interest in sport, health and wellbeing.

DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We can offer the following support:

  • Advanced ski or snowboard instruction, if desired.
  • Access to ski/board/rental/First Aid training and refresher courses.
  • Shadow different staff, to develop a broad understanding of different disciplines and roles within the center.
  • Delivery of outdoor learning experiences to schools as part of the Curriculum for Excellence.

Trainee Ski/Snowboard Instructor/Rental Assistant

DESCRIPTION

We are looking for 5 young people between the ages of 16-24 that live in Ayrshire to take part in this years Instructor & Volunteer Pathway. This Pathway offers participants a fun environment with the opportunity to increase confidence, meet new people, gain qualifications, a reference, gain valuable work experience and get some exercise at the same time.

SKILLS REQUIRED

NSASC is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. No formal qualifications are required for this post however, we ask that you are comfortable with communicating face to face or on the phone with a wide range of people. Ideally you should also demonstrate:

  • an ability to ski/snowboard at recreational level
  • reliability
  • good written and spoken English skills
  • an ability to work as part of a team
  • an ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently

  • You will also have the chance to shadow different people within the organisation, thus getting a broad understanding of different disciplines.
  • Lastly, you will have the opportunity to increase your awareness of the snow sports and social enterprise industry in Scotland.
